This is the week of the ban.
17 services took action to ban President including Reddit, Twitch, Shopify, Twitter, Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, Apple, Discord, Pinterest, Amazon AWS, Stripe, OKTA, and Twilio.
Apple, Google and Amazon together bascially killed Parler.
Should these internet platforms allow bad things to be spread, or should they stop the world from seeing what Trump has to say?
How far should these platforms control other companies that use their stack? Are they getting too powerful? What’s the line between a private company’s freedom not to do business with you and a common carrier? Whose decision should this be anyway?
2021 will be an interesting year for data privacy and platform control. And it is just the beginning.
